65th Sunshine Sevens

The Challenge Packaging 65th Sunshine 7’s The Challenge Packaging Sunshine 7’s had everything - apart from Sunshine. Strong line up’s came to compete in all the competitions despite the rain trying to dampen the spirits. The Mens Elite competition had eleven of the top sides on the circuit. The semi-finals showed the best sides come through with Apache Raiders beating Samurai White 20-15 and Rambling Jesters beat a new addition to the tournament, Lions 45-5. It was Jesters who had looked the strongest side the whole way through the competition, that lifted the Lady Astor of Hever Trophy. Nine sides competed in the Women’s Competition for The Steve Cairn’s Cup. Wooden Spoon South beat the Lionesses 19-12 in a very close final. In the Mens Open competition The Nomads came out on top just ahead of Sussex Rangers. The Player of the Tournament is kindly sponsored by Penny Farthing Jewellers providing a fabulous watch and tankard. this was won by Austin Eames from the Rambling Jester who was outstanding all afternoon. There are many thanks that we need to give on making this another great event in difficult weather. Challenge Packaging our sponsor, who supported on the day. The Sunshine Sevens Committee who have worked hard all year and on the day to make this happen. Nikki and the EGRFC team who did such a great job all weekend. We look forward to seeing how much money we have raised so far which will go to local charities. looking forward already to next years The 66th Sunshine Sevens which will be 28th April 2024!
