Biography
Name: Jack Andrews
Age: 23
Why do you play rugby?
I play primarily for the combined competitiveness and camaraderie you get each time you walk out on the pitch. There’s no better feeling than the build-up on game day and getting a win with a close-knit group of lads who put themselves on the line week in week out for the club. I also love the whole process of improving as a squad and as an individual at training or in the gym, it’s a perfect departure from day-to-day life and it is hugely rewarding to see the results out on the pitch.
Life outside East Grinstead RFC
I am generally all about sport and socialising, so outside of my work life I love to fill my time with either working out in the gym, watching sport, or socialising with mates up in London or family. I do also have a huge passion for music so I also like to play or listen to music when I can!
Who’s your favourite player and why?
It's a close call between Ma’a Nonu and Brian O’Driscoll … both are insanely exciting to watch, and both being best centres I tend to watch highlight reels of both of these players as part of my pre-game routine, so I couldn’t really call it between them!

What’s your favourite rugby moment?
For me it has to be watching England beat New Zealand in the 2019 RWC semi (sorry coach). From the moment they set up in the triangle facing the Haka you just knew it was going to be a good match and it didn’t disappoint (and us going on to bag a 46-0 win away at Hove a few hours later topped it off nicely!).

What’s your advice to younger East Grinstead RFC players coming through?
Get involved and don’t let anything hold you back. Rugby is all about commitment and passion, so the earlier you start committing 100% and the fewer excuses you give yourself to quit, the better you will be as a player and the more amazing experiences and opportunities you will get out of it for many years to come. From personal experience it can become such a positive influence on your life as a whole, not just in terms of sport and fun, so go for it!
What is the Best Thing About East Grinstead RFC?
Right now, the best thing about this club is the people involved. It is an honour as a player to spend time with the committed group running, coaching and playing at EGRFC at the moment, and their passion for success is infectious. We also have class facilities with a strong base of rugby fans who come to watch us week in week out. EGRFC is in a prime place to go far if it maintains this momentum and fosters the same winning attitude from top to bottom consistently going forward. Exciting times!
