Biography
Why Do You Play Rugby?
I joined EGRFC in the U8s, brought along by my dad who had been going on at me to stop playing football and to take up rugby instead! Slightly dubious, I went along and I’ve never looked back.
The reason I play rugby has changed through the years, but one thing that has always stayed the same has been the enjoyment I get from winning games as a result of working hard with my teammates.
Life Outside EGRFC
At the moment I am on a gap year, working and travelling before going to university in September 2020
Who’s Your Favourite Player and Why?
My favourite player has again, developed over the years; changing with every position I have played. Currently, it is a relatively unknown Newcastle Falcons’ winger called Sinoti Sinoti. His aggression in attack is something I strive to replicate. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinoti_Sinoti https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyhYfIEWd9M&t=157s
What’s Your Favourite Rugby Moment
My favourite moment in rugby is, without a doubt Japan’s historic victory over South Africa in 2015. This, as well as Japan’s outstanding result in their 2019 World Cup shows how a country is able to move from Tier 2 to Tier 1 and break down cultural stereotypes within the rugby world. This is shown through the film ‘The Brighton Miracle’, which outlines the details of their victory over SA by the same name.

Who will win the 2020 Six Nations?
I think it will be an English victory this year, despite AW Jones’ best efforts.
What’s Your Advice to Younger EGRFC Players Coming Through?
The best advice I can give is to listen to your coaches and to work as hard as you can. The more you put into it, the more you will get out of it in terms of both enjoyment and winning games.
What is the Best Thing About EGRFC?
The best thing about the club is the comradery that emerges from being a member; the sense of community you feel being in the bar after a game is what makes all rugby clubs and moreover EGRFC a special place to be. Alongside this, is the talent and dedication of the coaching staff who have helped me to improve over the years.
