U14 - Early Season Training & Readiness

Neil Oakley19 Sep 2016 - 10:06

Ready for the first test !

Well it's been a slow start with our numbers at the early part of the season. Other clubs and sporting activities now coming to a close and in this last week we were close to full compliment.

As ever at the beginning of the season we very much go back to basics to ensure we wake up the Rugby brains, blow away the cobwebs and re-establish the Teamwork that we rely upon.

Training Week 1.
Handling, handling, handling !!
And the coaches very pleased with overall excellent work. Oddly, when pressure is applied and the speed picked up the handling got better and better.

Training Week 2.
Tackling, tackling and tackling.
Defensive awareness, commitment and technique.

Training Week3.
Ball retention, continuity and offloads from the contact area.
Coupled with the excellent handling above we look to improve upon our explosive fast paced style of Rugby.

These very basic building blocks deliberately designed to take us into our first Friendly of the year where they will be put to the test right from the off!

Sunday 25th September the U14's travel away to Horsham for our first season warm-up. Horsham coming second in the A-League last year and renowned for their own fast paced running rugby will be a great test of how far we have come.
