SENIOR RUGBY
Frozen pitches took their toll on all the rugby for the club last weekend, even Chairman Bob unable to work his defrosting magic on pitch 2.

This weekend looks a bit warmer and, on Saturday, we are all excited to welcome Twickenham and Burgess Hill to play our 1’s and 2’s respectively in a cracking looking day of rugger. Both games kicking off at 2pm. We have some seats still available for a delicious pre match meal beforehand, please read the article below and book your spot ASAP!

On Sunday, our ladies travel to local rivals, Crawley, looking to get back to winning ways.

COYG’s

U14’s FUNDRAISING
On Saturday 1st of February at 7pm, our U14’s are hosting a quiz night at the club to raise funds for their U14’s tour to Spain. Get yourself in a team of six and get swotting!

It will be a brilliant evening, so please come and support.

TWICKENHAM LUNCH (18th)
Join us for the first EGRFC feast of 2025! Our next pre match food is on Saturday 18th where we host Twickenham. Burgess Hill will also be sending their Sussex All Blacks to face our 2’s, so it’s going to be a big day! Time is short, so book your seat by the end of today (Wednesday).

All the info you need to book your seat is here: Pre-match lunch

Look forward to seeing you.

SAYING GOODBYE TO MAUREEN
Many of you will have heard about the sad passing of club legend Maureen Scourfield. The funeral arrangements have now been made and you are all invited. Kerry, Maureen’s daughter writes:

We would like to let friends and family know that the celebration of Mums life will be Friday 24th January 1pm at St Mary's, Church Rd, Horne RH6 9LA

The reception will be held at East Grinstead Rugby Club from approximately 2.30pm.

We would love to welcome anyone able to make it and kindly ask that people wear bright colours rather than traditional dark.
We also request no flowers please but if anyone would like to make a donation Colin requests it to be to Dementia UK

RUN CHAMPERS
I remember when a young man, Callum Bateman-Champain (Champers), burst into senior training, with an unbelievable engine that left all us oldies in his wake! A decade or so later, he is still at it! Callum writes:

“Hi all as some of you are aware I will be taking part in the Marathon Des Sables in April 2025. The Marathon Des Sables is a 250km running event across the Sahar Desert taking place across 6 stages (7 days). I will be doing this while carrying all of my food, sleeping equipment, and essentials, all in heat that in recent years has reached 45 - 50 Degrees Celsius. This is a challenge that I am both excited and nervous about.

When I was younger, I needed sport to focus in lessons, I needed it to stay active, I was very lucky with the opportunities I got offered to me when I was growing up. Youth Sports Trust is a charity that equips educators and offers sporting opportunities to young people. Sport gives young people a great platform to feel valued and allows them to express themselves, and I am proud to be running to support them.

If you would like to find out more about the YST there is a link here: https://www.youthsporttrust.org

If you would like to donate to my page, the link can be found here: JustGiving

Any donations are greatly appreciated no matter what size.”

All of us at East Grinstead RFC are so proud of you mate - Hope the training is going well.
