SENIOR RUGBY
Pre season is now fully underway. It is so encouraging to see new faces showing up for both our Men and Women’s sessions. Welcome to all of you. There are rumours of a new Womens head coach too... More on this next issue!

AGM
Our AGM was well attended last Friday - Thank you to all who came.

Your elected board for the 2024/25 season is. Bob Marsh - Chairman; Matt Marriott - Vice Chair; Derek Hughes - President; Byron Tomkinson - Hon Secretary and Dan Arnold - Hon Treasurer. Huge thanks go to Connor Leggat who served on the board last year, but has now stepped down.

One thing that came up was how we desperately need more volunteers at the club for a multitude of things. We especially need coaches to help with our age group rugby, particularly our girls. We also have a large role to fill, which is our Facilities Chairman (Thank you so much Rob Ward for doing this so well for the last few seasons). We need to fill this position ASAP.

If you can help us with any of these positions.
If you have a few spare hours a week, we have loads you can help with, whatever your skill set.

2XV SUCCESS
As you know, our triumphant 2XV secured promotion as they swept all before them in an undefeated campaign. This wonderful run culminated in trophies for both league and cup. These were presented at our AGM by David Hooker and received here by 2’s hero and second row rock, Pete Morley.

PITCH MAINTENANCE - 2nd TRY ON SATURDAY
After the machinery no show last month, and the silly weather, we now desperately need your help this Saturday the 20th of July 2024, beginning at 09.30 hrs.

As you may have noticed, we have a huge pile of earth which needs spreading onto the pitches. Can you help the grounds team?

We need players, parents, supporters, fans and anyone who loves EGRFC, to come and get involved!!

Please can you bring your own rakes.

JUNIOR RUGBY CAMPING
Last Saturday, families from the junior section gathered at the club for the first Junior Rugby Camp. With the weather not really knowing whether it was coming or going, everyone persevered and set up camp. The skies cleared and we were treated to some lovely food before heading out for a game of Parents v Kids rounders. Rumour has it, the kids won.

Naturally, this turned into a mass game of rugby with the parents opening the game up with a Haka. With some silky rugby skills on show, mainly from the kids, the game went on for a few hours. Then everyone settled down to a big social gathering with plenty of laughs.

Sunday morning came around and once again, we were well fed by Nikki and Rob - as the bacon rolls flowed. A brilliant camp, which will hopefully be the first of many. Thank you to Nicky and Stuart Bell for organising a successful event.

RIDE FOR RATANA
The annual motorcycle ride to remember our much missed head coach Matt, gathered at Saint Hill once more on Saturday. The BBQ was churning out butties to fortify the riders before they headed out - a ride which Matt would have absolutely loved. Too many bikes to count, led by two police bikes, finally left the club at about midday with a roar!

Looking forward to the next ride already!!

MEN’S SIX NATIONS 2025 TICKETS UPDATE
Please note that the invitation to apply for Twickenham tickets for the Men’s Six Nations 2025 has been delayed until the first week in August for administrative reasons. Watch this space...
