Under 14s 46 vs 5 Worthing
Sunday 18 Sep 2011
Friendly
Gs under 14s played their first competitive match of the season on Sunday with a convincing victory against Worthing RFC , Gs missing a few squad members to injury and unavailability turned the screw from the very first minute, quicker to the breakdown Gs piled the pressure on with Frankie Robinson orchestrating the set moves from scrum half and the first of eight tries was scored in the corner by De La Haye.
Connor Longford made his debut at number 8 and showed his strength and physical presence as he burst through the Worthing defence to set up Gs second try under the posts which was converted by Oli Brown , Worthing then scored what looked like a perfect try until the ref realized the player had actually run off the pitch and touched the ball down under the wrong posts.
In the second half Worthing started better and after some prolonged pressure got their reward with a try which was unconverted, this seemed to rally the Gs and further good work by the Gs pack set up a further six tries scored by Tancock , Harris (2), De La Haye and Oscar Waite as Grinstead cruised to an easy win against a well drilled opposition.
